People still neck the movies, but bucket seats & smaller cars are not as inviting for amorous adventure as during those mid-earlier years of the 20th century! The revival of the drive-in theater, which now numbers around 350 sites nationwide, is nowhere better enjoyed than the Fort Worth Coyote Drive-In! Even the name of this attraction is cool, & you get a stunning cityscape view of Fort Worth night from under the stars while you snack, smooch, & watch the movies! The Canteen is a large concession area where you can buy beer or wine, pizza, hot dogs, hamburgers, chicken tenders, & all the “sides” that usually go along with this decadent (?), but tasty food. So, the drive-in movie enthusiasm changed both the setting for movie-watching, & the relaxation of social norms that enabled increased privacy for interpersonal behavior. Watching the movies from your car also allowed the emergence of a new spin on romance: “making-out” the movies! Looking back from our current era, it’s hard to imagine an earlier time in which deciding on a socially acceptable place for intimate dating was often hard to find. This period of the rise of the drive-in as a fun place to see the Hollywood stars on the big screen was in the 1950’s & early 1960’s. The Coyote Drive-In is a nostalgic revival of what was once a widespread attraction throughout the country with up to 4,000 drive-in movie sites during the peak sensation of watching movies in the privacy of the automobile. They have a no outside food or drink policy but no one was adhering to it and no one enforces it. But people were quiet during the movie so that was good. With their headlights on, it was the equivalent (but worse) to that person in the theater who can’t stop texting and everyone knows it because we can all see his bright screen. I also didn’t like that they allowed people to come in well after the movie had started. Even so, you’d think they’d have better quality speakers outside so you could listen to those. If we ever go back, we will be taking a portable radio to have with us outside rather than relying on our vehicle’s radio. So we sat inside the truck and the sound was better there but we were but still disappointed as our kids could not see the screen from the back seat. We had our truck’s volume turned up all the way and still couldn’t understand what they were saying from our truck bed. The sound quality at screen 3 was great for all the ads but deteriorated pretty badly when the trailers and then movie started. The playground is a bit disappointing as it looks to be for toddlers only. I had never been to this drive in before but have been wanting to go for a long time. We went to see the new Bill & Ted movie (which I don’t recommend: not as funny as the others).
